Rock And Roll Recordings… Volume 1
Recorded in September of 2003 in Calgary, Alberta.
Released in October of 2004
Produced by MP

Jenny and I moved to Toronto in September of 2003. The idea of doing a new album… a roots rock album like the good old days… was put forth to me and I decided “What the Hell?” So I flew out to Calgary and I recorded this album with a bunch of friends of mine from town… Joel Stewart, Lorrie Matheson, Ross Watson and Dave Alcock. We were in the studio for a week. It was a lot of fun but at the same time I had a funny feeling I wouldn’t be recording another one for a long time if ever. Most of these songs were from the last batch of songs that I’d written while living in Nashville and I didn’t write another one for 15 months. This album is the one that most people don’t even know was recorded let alone released. Loads of killer songs… “Birmingham 3AM”, “Dancing On The Wind”, “Somewhere Under The Rainbow” and on and on. It’s a great record and a shame that it died on the vine the way it did. Someday when I’m drunk I’ll tell you the whole sordid story.

If I had my way is my favourite tune on this album. Somewhere over the Rainbow is another super song. I used to listen to this album regularily but right now I am playing Table for 1 in my rotation.

I love your music Mike and I am going to see you at the Black Sheep!

I am not sure if Mike is going to read this but here’s hoping. I love this album. I am somewhat of an amateur musician, been in a few bands etc. I used to be a hard rock guy but have discovered over the years that there is something else equally as fascinating. Music like this. I love Fred Eaglesmith ,John Prine Steve Earle, Mike Plume is right up there in my books. I strum along to this regularly and would really love to find the lyrics for it somewhere under the rainbow. I don’t khow who is going to read this but can someone help me please thx.
