I Just Don’t Get It

Written in August of 1996 in Edmonton, Alberta

Something’s been bothering me
For a long old time
It took me a while to see
What was on my mind
It wasn’t so much what you said
But more the way that you said it
Something must be wrong with my head
Because, baby, I just don’t get it

I keep tripping over my feet
On my way to your door
No stranger stranger to meet
Singing “Praise the Lord”
It wasn’t so much what he said
But more the way that he said it
Something must be wrong with my head
Because, baby, I just don’t get it
I said, baby, I just don’t get it

Now I swear that there is gold in them there hills
I swear that there’s some way to feel fulfilled
But I just don’t get it

Clock on my kitchen wall
Keeps spinning out of time
It wouldn’t bother me at all
If I knew it wasn’t mine
It wasn’t so much what that time piece said
But more the way I read it
Something must be wrong with my head
Because, baby, I just don’t get it
